Zendesk AI ticket automation

Zendesk AI ticket automation with governed ticket creation, updates, approvals, and WorkItem audit trails.

Overview

The Zendesk integration enables Threada to create, update, and resolve Zendesk records as governed actions within your workflows. Scoped credentials ensure each workspace operates with least-privilege access.

Capabilities

  • Create Zendesk records from WorkItem escalations with full context
  • Update Zendesk tickets (status, fields, tags) from governed WorkItem actions
  • Map custom fields and tags between systems
  • Route by priority, team, and policy classification
  • Audit trail for every Zendesk operation

A worked example

One end-to-end flow Threada runs with Zendesk:

  1. A Zendesk ticket arrives and becomes a governed WorkItem, normalized into a typed schema with the ticket attached.
  2. Threada drafts a grounded answer in strict citation mode, or routes the ticket to an owner when policy requires a human.
  3. An approved reply or update runs as a governed action back into Zendesk — status, fields, and tags mapped — with idempotency.
  4. Every Zendesk operation runs as a governed action with idempotency and is recorded on the WorkItem's immutable audit trail.

Setup

Configure the integration in Studio under pack governance. Provide scoped API credentials and map fields to your workflow schema. The connection is validated before activation.

  1. In Studio, add the Zendesk integration under pack governance.
  2. Provide scoped Zendesk API credentials with least-privilege access.
  3. Map Zendesk fields, tags, and statuses to your WorkItem schema.
  4. Validate the connection; the integration activates only after the test succeeds.

Permissions & data access

Zendesk can be installed through the Threada-hosted marketplace OAuth path or configured with scoped tenant credentials where that deployment path is used.

  • Marketplace OAuth credentials and tenant-provided credentials are stored in Secret Manager; WorkItems store only runtime integration references.
  • Threada calls Zendesk's REST API to create tickets and run configured ticket updates; inbound sync of Zendesk status back into the WorkItem is not supported today.
  • Every ticket operation runs as a governed action and is recorded on the WorkItem's audit trail.

Frequently asked questions

Does Threada reply in Zendesk automatically?
Only under policy. Replies and updates run as governed actions, so whether they send automatically or wait for an approver is decided by your policy overlay. Anything unsupported by evidence is routed to a human rather than answered.
Does Threada read Zendesk status back into the WorkItem?
Not currently. Threada writes to Zendesk — creating and updating tickets as governed actions. Inbound sync of Zendesk status back into the WorkItem is not supported today; the WorkItem reflects the actions Threada has taken.
What access does the integration need?
A scoped Zendesk marketplace OAuth install or scoped Zendesk API credentials with least-privilege access. The connection is validated before activation, and every Zendesk operation is logged on the audit trail.
